Andy File Associates Limited are working on behalf of their client as a Recruitment Agency with regards this permanent vacancy.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join a well-established engineering organisation working with a multidisciplinary design team on the production of designs for plant and equipment. The company is involved in the full project life cycle from concept design through to manufacture and commissioning, primarily, but not exclusively for the nuclear industry

Main Purpose of Position

  • Manage Learning from experience process to ensure rework is minimised, errors are not repeated and best practice is captured and replicated across the business to enhance reputation and increase profitability
  • Manage our clients’ process (internally and supply chain) to ensure appropriate Root Cause Analysis is completed to support timely close out, cost capture and relevant onward process change
  • Act as Supply Chain Quality Assurance lead to ensure robust supplier assessment is completed and that suppliers are supported to understand and apply all requirements
  • Support the development and progress of Continuous Improvement Projects across the Business, coaching and mentoring other employees to become Change Agents

Specific Areas of Responsibility


  • Lead Learning from Experience activities to capture repeatable best practice, improvement opportunities and required process or working practice change
  • Utilise business data captured to identify business change requirements and opportunities


  • Own and manage the clients’ management platform to ensure all NCRs are effectively analysed, costed and closed out in a timely manner by the appropriate process owner or functional lead
  • Provide NCR Data to the clients’ Integrated Delivery Teams to ensure project impact is understood and mitigated
  • Provide NCR summary data to the Head of Assurance to support Quality Board KPIs

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance Auditing:

  • Perform internal audits ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and procedures
  • Working in collaboration with the Procurement Team, perform audits of the clients’ suppliers against agreed standards
  • Facilitate and manage outputs of client audits and support other 3rd party audits

Supply Chain Quality Lead

  • Be part of a team to conduct Quality assessments of the clients’ Strategic suppliers to ensure appropriate capability exists to meet requirements
  • Develop effective relationships with the clients’ Strategic Suppliers to ensure specifications are understood and customer requirements are appropriately cascaded
  • Liaise with Delivery teams to understand Supplier performance and provide improvement support where required


  • Contribute to Business Development and Tendering activities through the provision of LFE
  • Attend appropriate external forum to promote organisational reputation and supplier relationships

Additional Tasks

  • Formulate and manage own personal training plan and development activity in agreement with the Head of Assurance and Business Change
  • Carry out such other tasks within the job holder’s capability as requested

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential        

  • HND or equivalent in Engineering or Business
  • IRCA Lead Quality Auditor


  • Lean and or Six Sigma Qualified
  • Associate membership of an appropriate professional institute e.g. CQI (Chartered Quality Institute)

Experience & Knowledge     


  • Experience of working in a manufacturing or technical environment
  • Experience of driving improvement projects to make efficiencies and improve productivity
  • Experience of both internal and external auditing, including managing the close out of NCRs


  • In depth understanding of Nuclear Safety and the quality requirements, standards and specifications required for supplying the nuclear industry
  • Experience of working with a supply chain to meet customer requirements
