Our client is an award-winning Research & Development and Sustainable Technology business based in Bourne, Lincolnshire, a hybrid working model is also available for the right candidate if they live further afield with 2 days a week in office. Our client is looking for a smart and talented Chief Operating Officer/General manager who can perform several important roles within the organisation. COOs are certainly crucial people at every company, and their work is important for business success. COO responsibilities include being second-in-command for the whole company and for the efficiency of the overall business. The ideal candidate must have experience in delivering projects whilst having a real ‘winning’ mentality.

Responsibilities

The COO is a crucial member of the senior management team, who reports only to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). In this position, you’ll have to manage and control diverse business operation and function, so they expect you to be a hardworking and an inspiring leader.

Responsibilities of a Chief Operating Officer job include: 

  • Design, plan and implement business strategies, plans and procedures
  • Set comprehensive goals for business growth and success
  • Establish policies and procedures that promote company culture and vision
  • Oversee daily operations and the work of executives
  • Lead employees with an example
  • Be a motivator for other employees
  • Analyse and interpret data and metrics
  • Create reports for the management
  • Take the lead in expansion activities
  • Maintain relationships with partners and vendors

Education Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a higher level of education and skills ideally in science and/or business management. However, this is not essential. Ultimately, the main attribute we require would be someone who can ‘deliver results’ and strive to a high completion in the marketplace.

  • Proven experience in a relevant role.
  • A strong sense of creativity aids in the process of thinking of new product ideas and solving problems creatively.
  • Great problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills are also important.
  • The ability to communicate well with customers, colleagues, and lower-level staff.
  • Hands-on experience in managing or leading a team of employees.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and good at managing time.
  • Good business sense.
