Aftersales Manager

Role and responsibilities

As an Aftersales Manager you are responsible for the effective management and overall running of the Aftersales department, including both part sales and service. Leading and co-ordinating the activities of the team to meet departmental and business needs, driving efficiency with the use of strong processes and lean management. Responsible for driving the sales and service strategy to meet individual and departmental targets / kpi’s. Maintain an excellent level of customer service. Recognise and exploit gaps in the marketplace to generate new revenue streams. Accountable for coaching, developing and managing the After sales team in terms of attitude and performance. Using good communication to liaise with other departments to ensure customer expectations are met and the smooth running of the business. Provide accurate and timely departmental information to senior management to support effective decision-making, planning and control. Represent the After sales department company meetings.

Daily duties

  • Advise customers on the company’s available products and services
  • Produce accurate quotes for potential customers
  • Maintain a high level of customer service
  • Provide accurate and meaningful management information as and when required
  • Create effective processes and controls in the Aftersales department
  • Oversee performance and development of the following Aftersales areas;
    • Parts sales
    • Service
  • Maximise profit through efficiency and lean management
  • Responsible for creating effective processes within the Aftersales department
  • Recognise & generate potential revenue streams
  • Project management as required
  • Keep informed on industry changes, trends, and best practices
  • Produce monthly reports detailing performance against targets and KPI’s
  • Issue working instructions to the Aftersales team
  • Responsible for providing training, development and coaching of the Aftersales team
  • Manage H.R issues for team including holidays, sickness, behaviour and performance appraisals
  • Attend departmental and company meetings to represent the Aftersales department
  • Continuous improvement of company practices
  • Maintain our client’s brand and values
  • Understand and keep up to date with developments and new products
  • Attend relevant events and trade shows

Skills / Qualifications

  • Good knowledge and understanding of an automotive environment
  • Good understanding of vehicles and vehicle parts
  • Be sales driven and have the enthusiasm to push sales through a consultative sell
  • Understand or have the enthusiasm to learn about the company’s products and relevant marketplace
  • Have the ability and experience to develop processes and improve existing ones
  • Have good personnel skills and can recognise when development of individuals and the team is required
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills establishing team effort to a common objective
  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Have good decision-making skills
  • Could recognise and solve problems
  • Have a good level of IT, computer skills
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Can handle pressure and meet targets / deadlines
  • Must be flexible
