Our client was established in 1953 and are a multi award winning Insurance Broker with a Head Office in Sheffield with representation throughout the UK. They are one of the top 100 Independent Insurance Brokers in the Country and offer a comprehensive client service including claims handling and full market access.

Our client is looking for a Senior Commercial Broker to join their Insurance team based in Sheffield, to provide a quality service to clients covering all aspects of their insurance arrangements.

What will you be doing as a Senior Commercial Broker

Deal with any telephone queries for new or existing business, provide suitable advice, exercising own judgement based upon knowledge and experience as to when to refer customers to a colleague

Managing and reviewing proposals and referring to supervisors or managers when appropriate

Ensure that systems and compliance are followed at all times in accordance with FCA regulations

Draw customers’ attention to all information pertinent to our client’s insurance policies, including duty of disclosure, warranties and onerous conditions etc.

Enter new business and renewals onto the computer system, allocating the correct coding

Obtain quotations both for new and renewal business, analysing information gathered and undertaking sufficient research to make suitable recommendations

What experience /skills is our client looking for

Knowledge of FCA rules and guidelines relating to both commercial and private customers is essential

Knowledge of general insurance and its underlying legal principles

Ability to prioritise and organise your own workload to ensure deadlines are adhered

Ability to develop and sustain relationships with both internal and external customers

Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of underwriting and related issues through formal and informal learning

A new Commercial Broker position has become available for a new insurance trading style

Our client offers telematics-based fleet insurance to business vehicle owners /operators – by selling both telematics and related insurance products. This proposition is currently one of it’s kind in the UK insurance market. The aspiration is to scale the business aggressively with an initial milestone of insuring 500+ new vehicles per month by the beginning of 2021 – in particular by selling back to our client’s existing large fleet customer base. This is in addition to selling other insurance policy products and services in line with customer need.

The purpose of the role is to develop the income of the business through strategy and client acquisition, working within all areas of the business.

What will you be doing as  a Commercial Broker

To work as part of our SME Broking team

Working closely with our newly created ‘Insurance Solutions’ team

To acquire new clients and new business

To help deliver the business development strategy for the company

Ensure that system and procedures are followed at all times in accordance with the procedures manual

To provide regular reports and updates on development to the Directors

Working with and developing the sales team
