Manufacturing Engineer

Andy File Associates Limited are working as a Recruitment Agency on behalf of our client with regards this permanent position

Description of role:

In this role you will take new and existing designs for products and develop the manufacturing assembly process along with associated tooling and documentation for assembly and test.

The individual will follow the product through to a finished built and tested product, working with the design and production teams to ensure the most effective and efficient manufacturing processes are utilised.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods utilising knowledge of product design, materials, machining and fabrication processes, tooling, equipment resource capabilities, assembly methods and established quality and workmanship standards
  • Analyse and plan work force utilisation, space requirements and workflow to design workspace and equipment layouts for maximum efficiency
  • Interact with Engineering concerning product design and design for manufacturing
  • Identify opportunities for improvement across the entire manufacturing process, gain buy-in and implement process improvements
  • Interact with customers and suppliers to resolve quality and/or manufacturability issues
  • In conjunction with production establish accurate part and assembly process routing and process times
  • Develop rate readiness plans to scale up the manufacturing processes, identifying future bottle necks in skills, equipment and tooling providing appropriate solutions whilst ensuring conformity of production
  • Ensuring day to day issues with Production/Engineering/Quality/Stores are progressed and resolved with preventative action put in place to stop re-occurrence
  • Develop and maintain appropriate key performance indicators
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience

  • Pro-active, innovative with the ability to thrive in challenging environments
  • Experience in effective change in an engineering and manufacturing environment
  • Additional experience in manufacturing functions such as machining, fabrication and mechanical and electrical assembly
  • Good knowledge and experience of pre-production processes and techniques
  • Experience of implementing process improvements across different functions, resulting in sustained improvement
  • Must be capable of producing clear and concise manufacturing assembly instructions
  • Must be hard working, and be able to work under pressure with the ability to manage specific details to tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and liaise across all departments
  • To be analytical, diligent and thorough, seeing tasks through to the end
  • To be an excellent communicator across all levels of the business
  • To have excellent IT skills especially experience in the design of tooling using 3D-CAD and 2D drafting tools
  • Appreciation of Health & Safety requirements

Electrical Assembly Supervisor

Andy File Associates Limited are working on behalf of their client as a Recruitment Agency with regards this permanent vacancy.

The role

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Promote safe working practices and lead by good example
• Supervision and development of shop personnel
• Support the planning and prioritising of workload to meet deadlines
• Maintenance of work instructions, skills matrix and risk assessments
• Ensuring day to day issues with Engineering/Quality/Purchasing/Stores are progressed, resolved with preventative actions in places to stop reoccurrence
• Responsible for completion of works orders by due dates
• Ensure Quality of manufacture and correct procedures are adhered to
• Control of waste and promote good housekeeping
• Complete all necessary documentation according to the requirements, (including timesheets, ECN, NCR…etc.)
• Monitor and maintain department consumable stock/tooling levels
• Maintain key performance indicators
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience

• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
• Shop floor apprentice background preferred
• ONC/HNC in related discipline
• Experience with a variety of production processes and equipment
• Supervisory and man management experience essential
• Pro-active, innovative with the ability to thrive in challenging environments
• Must have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Ability to prioritise, organise and liaise across all departments
• Customer focused
• Must be hard working, and be able to work under pressure with the ability to manage specific details to tight deadlines
• Experience of improvement tools and techniques (LEAN, 5S, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret detail and assembly drawings
