Test House Machinists

Andy File Associates Limited are working on behalf of their client as a Recruitment Agency with regards this permanent vacancy.

Reporting to the Test House Technical Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Matching job card to the test material
• Interpreting the job card and extract the test pieces from the test material
• Rough machining of test sample
• CNC final machining of test samples for Charpy or tensile tests
• Use of the surface grinder as required
• Interpreting requirements from work route cards, ensuring that all work is done in line with Health and safety and quality standards.
• Maintaining turnaround times in line with KPI targets
• Deputising for other team members within level of training and when required.
• Informing management when consumables are low and potentially take responsibility for purchasing of machine shop consumables within level of experience
• Keeping workshop tidy and safe at all times
• Ensuring machining is completed to tight tolerances within the specification (0.02mm)
• Machining required tooling when needed

Hours of Work: 06.00-14.00 and 14.00-22.00 in shift rotation

In order to be successful in this role, you will be educated to GCSE level with good Maths and English, coupled with advanced apprenticeship in machining or similar (or have completed or part completed this level of education or training) or relevant machining experience. The ability to work in a team is also important.

Although not essential, good IT skills and mechanical testing experience would be beneficial. CNC programming or CAD/CAM training is also desirable.

CNC Turner or Miller (Setter / Programmer / Operator)

Andy File Associates Limited are working as a Recruitment Agency on behalf of our client with regards this permanent post.

Our client is a Precision Engineering Company looking to add a CNC Programmer, Setter Operator to their team. Working on a a variety of CNC Machines, mainly on small varied batch work for a variety of industries to include: Defense, Aerospace and Automotive

Machines used:

  • Turning (Takisawa, Nakamura, Victor, Femco),
  • Milling (Hurco & Brother)
  • Working to tight tolerances.

Working 2 shifts (7 to 3.30, 2.30 to 10.30, and nights as and when required 10 – 8 (only 4 shifts per week paid 39 hours).

Experience required:

Computer Numerical Control Turning setting, programming and operating experience within precision engineering

CNC Milling setting and operating experience in addition would be preferred but isn’t essential

Market rates of pay with the opportunity for mid-week and weekend overtime, an additional performance and quality bonus scheme operated. 6% productivity/quality bonus applied to gross wages (inc overtime).
