The Role

To lead and develop product test and order fulfillment operations. As a small company, you will also be expected to be actively involved in assisting with the day to day operations of the operational group. As well as testing/ development activities this role has a high degree of operational bias and the successful application will lead and participate in the order fulfillment functions and the control of stock. An important part of the role will be in developing and documenting ISO9001 compliant process as we move towards accreditation. This is an exciting and important role that is essential to the future of the company and will appeal to an individual who has a unique blend of practical and operational skills.

The Role will involve:

  • Assembly and test of both standard product and research and development product
  • As time progress the emphasis will be toward the research and development
  • Assembly/ test process development in conjunction with the Engineering group
  • The overseeing/carrying out routine oil profiling to a standard process
  • ISO9001 process development and documentation for the business
  • Order processing and dispatch
  • Stock control and supplier liaison

Skills, qualities and experience

  • Have experience in an electro – mechanical product development / delivery environment
  • Be comfortable with order processing, stock control, build/ design of product
  • Be highly disciplined and structures and have an uncompromising attitude to quality
  • Be capable of multi- tasking and delivering to a high standard whilst under pressure
  • Be able to work to deadlines to ensure dispatch date are met
  • To ensure internal and customer quality standards are met and exceeded
  • Preferably have ISO9001 system experience
  • Good computer skills to include MS office /word and Excel as will be able use and create spreadsheets
  • The ability to understand electrical and electro-mechanical schematics and system diagrams is preferable but not essential

Hours

Mon – Fri –  9.00am  – 5.00pm 35 hours a week ( 1 hour for lunch)

Quality Manager

Summary of Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Quality Director with the development of the company quality system.
  • Assist Quality Director with the day to day management of the effectiveness of the quality system to AS9100 standard.
  • Day to day management of Inspection, Certification, Quality Assurance and Quality Control departments maintaining quality standards as required.
  • Performing supplier quality assurance audits for assigned suppliers.
  • Liaison with outside agencies, UKAS, customers and other third party auditors in gaining and maintaining approvals
  • Developing corrective actions to support supplier problems and failures, suggesting modifications and corrective actions by suppliers to meet customer specifications and standards.
  • Assist Quality Director in ensuring that products and services meet customer needs and expectations to fulfil company quality objectives.
  • Create and sustain a culture that is based on continuous improvement within the Quality Department.
  • Revise and update the quality management procedures.
  • Take lead responsibility for significant quality issues. Be “hands on” with the issue, develop a plan to resolve the issue, communicate the plan and progress on the plan to the organization.
  • Identify areas where product or service quality requires corrective action.
  • Lead Auditor for internal audits – create and maintain internal audit system.
  • Ensure that all departmental employees are fully aware of their responsibilities in line with the company quality and aware of customer requirements.
  • Produce monthly management report and attend Management meeting and other meetings as required e.g. NCR meeting, Health and Safety meeting
  • Deputise for Quality Director when required.

Reviewing and updating the approved supplier list (quality questionnaires)
Any other duties as may reasonably be required

Miscellaneous:

A new IT system is going to be introduced to produce Certificates of Conformity and experience would be ideal.
Training in the role will entail working with one section to start with test houses and then moving on to certification as time progresses.

Health & Safety Manager

Summary of Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage company Health & Safety systems including attainment / retention of any accreditation .

• Compile & maintain all COSHH records.
• Compile, maintain & review all Risk Assessments.
• Compile, maintain, and review all Safe Systems of Work including methods of relaying instruction to workforce.
• Responsibility for company compliance with all current legislation.
• Organise and chair regular health & safety meetings.

2. Responsibility for recording information and meeting site wide KPI targets for health & safety.

3. Responsibility for safety checks on site.

• Ensure Monthly Department Safety checks are completed.
• Enforce site wide wearing of PPE.
• Police daily working practices and that all Safe Systems of Work are adhered to.

4. Responsibility for management of Health, Safety & Welfare budget.

• Responsibility cleaning and welfare.
• Responsibility for all PPE.

5. Management of Training Systems.

• Ensure departmental training matrices are up to date.
• Identify with Department Manager any shop floor training needs.
• Organise training & maintain shop floor employee training files.
• Implement systems of tool box talks to convey relevant information to workforce.

6. Responsibility for Occupational Health issues.

• Implement systems of periodic health screening for shop floor employees.
• Organise medical checks for new starters.

7. Management of environmental issues and controls (as part of Operations Department)

• Familiarity with Environmental Management System and all related procedures and controls.
• Police environmental issues on both sites.

8. Responsibility for Welfare Facilities on site.

• Supervision of sub contract cleaners
• Day to day management of all issues.

9. Management of Sub Contractors on Site.

• Liaise with Engineering on H&S issues relating to use of sub contractors.
• Implementation and control of CDM on projects / work as necessary.

10. Supervision of site labour

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills:

Essential:

Knowledge of industry and processes.
Management abilities and experience of management techniques.
Knowledge of legislation and relevant codes of practice – ISO: 9001 and 14001
Ability to implement and work to principals of Construction Design Management.
Will have the confidence to enforce Health & Safety within the workplace.
NEBOSH Certificate
Full driving licence

Desirable:

NEBOSH Diploma
