Furnace Operative

Currently recruiting for our client who specialise in  Glass Technology

We are  recruiting for 3 x Furnace Operators to support the production of a glass based product

The Furnace Operator will work on a 24/7 shift pattern

The Furnace Operator,  will be responsible for:

  • Adhering to all relevant and reasonable health and safety standards
  • Operating the furnace within set process parameters
  • Monitor, maintain and report key process parameters for production
  • All quality control checks carried out at source
  • Solution mixing
  • Some manual lifting
  • Loading the furnace with the raw materials
  • Manually monitoring and checking the temperature and weights
  • All visual checks carried out
  • Distribution of raw materials using a FLT counterbalance
  • Monitor product quality and proactively address problems as the arise
  • Carry out basic autonomous maintenance on process equipment
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in job related areas and activities
  • Proactively address any hazards that are identified
  • Report all accidents and  incidents

Key skills needed :

  • An Engineering background and / or experience working as a Process Operator / Technician
  • A background in manufacturing
  • Awareness of lean manufacturing
  • FLT counterbalance licence

 

Job Type: 6 month contract – with the potential of becoming permanent after 6 months dependent on orders

Shifts: 8.00 am – 8.00pm / 8.00 am – 4.00pm /12.00 – 8.00pm

on a fixed rota basis over a 7 day period

Technician

Job Purpose:

The safe operation of powder production equipment to manufacture a range of production and experimental mixtures and processes in conformity with Company operating procedures.

Key responsibilities:

Operate in conformity with Company production procedures

Weigh out raw materials in conformity with specifications

Operate melting furnaces in a safe and accurate manner and to required temperatures

Set up and run specialised machines in accordance with instructions

Charge and operate driers

Operate sieving equipment

Weigh and pack finished product.

Attend training sessions to develop relevant knowledge and skills

Carry out general workshop housekeeping and warehousing duties including the operation of both manual and mechanical lifting equipment

Work in accordance with Company Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental policies.

Hours:

06.00- 14:00 morning shift

14:00- 22:00 afternoon shift

22:00 – 06.00 night shift ( week starts on Sunday night, week ends on Friday morning)

Saw and Stockyard Supervisor

Andy File Associates Limited are working as a Recruitment Agency on behalf of our client with regards this permanent position.

Summary of Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supervise all aspects of stockyard control.

• Receive all incoming deliveries, unload & allocate to correct department or
area, including weighing and matching material to paperwork.
• Loading of all hirework goods.
• Loading of all material to sub contract suppliers, including grinding.
• Manage and complete all related paperwork.
• Responsibility for all visiting HGV’s & drivers on site.

2. Supervise material transport in and around the stockyard.

• Control timely entry of material into forge, with assistance from forge
personnel marking up required materials.
• Monitor all material or work in progress on stockyards and roadways and
ensure un-delayed progression through production.
• Responsibility for paperwork control & booking up of relevant operations.

3. Manage all aspects of sawing department.

• Ensure timely and accurate execution of all cutting instructions.
• Issue orders & manage sub contract cutting services as required.
• Responsibility for paperwork control & booking up of sawing operations.

4. Responsible for health and safety in the saws shop and stockyard area

• Supervision of daily fork lift truck inspection system in area.
• Keeping area up to standard with weekly EH&S inspections
• Ensure all personnel in area are working safely.

5. Management of metal scrap system.

• Control collection & segregation of all scrap.
• Completion of all paperwork associated with scrap and regular
communication with Finance department
• Ensure timely removal of high value scrap to appropriate customer.

6. Supervision of personnel in department

• Organisation of holidays and cover and manning levels including
recruitment
• Completion of weekly pay timesheets
• First level disciplinary issues

Essential:

Basic understanding of managing a stockyard
Basic understanding of sawing operations
Basic knowledge of the operations carried out by all production departments.
Good Health and Safety awareness
Good level of IT literacy

Desirable:

Management abilities and experience of management techniques although training can be given
IOSH

Additional Information:

The stockyard is outside and the role will require activity outside at all times of the year.

Hours of work, Monday to Friday 8.15am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, 4.00pm Friday, (37 hours per week), there maybe unpaid overtime associated with this position and the job holder should be flexible with hours of work.
