Brief Job Description

Our client is the UK’s premier test engineering company who supply cutting-edge test and measurement solutions to some of the world’s leading high-tech manufacturers. This role will report directly to the Production Manager and forms a key part of the Engineering Team.

The successful candidate will be tasked with taking engineering drawings and building bespoke test solutions within time and cost constraints. This will involve the use of both commercial and off the shelf components as well as custom designed interfaces. The role will involve the assembly from general assembly drawings, bills of materials, electrical schematics and fault finding. This important role will provide an opportunity manufacture a wide range of bespoke products which allows our customers to benefit from our high-quality engineered solutions. Ideally, candidates will have recently completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship and have previous Panel Building/Wiring experience.

    • C&G Electrical/Electronic qualification
    • PCB soldering
    • Workshop skills (drilling, sawing, filing, etc)
    • Clean driving licence

    • C&G 2382-22 (BS 7671 18thEdition Wiring Regulations)

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary £25-26k, dependant on experience and qualifications
  • 37.5 hours/week, flexible start times between 6:30am and 9am
  • 22 days holiday (includes 3 days factory closure between Christmas and New Year)

Field Engineer

Duties

  • Provide maintenance support for operation, maintenance, installation, calibration and modification of Automated Test Equipment.
  • Analyse electronic equipment failures to determine the cause and then take the required corrective action.
  • Maintain bespoke and varied systems.
  • Provide guidance and training to the customer’s personnel on operational procedures and techniques.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs and keep performance and maintenance records on equipment availability.
  • Interface with customer representatives and maintain customer satisfaction with equipment and systems.
  • Participate in planning and preparation of technical and progress reports on assigned projects including: Completing the “maintenance of logbooks” for each system, to include all scheduled/unscheduled maintenance and failure data, as well as, system hardware and software configuration changes made to the system. Provision of weekly status reports for each site.

 

Essential Criteria

  • An Avionics or Automated Test Engineer able to work independently with good communication skills.
  • Experience with ATE operation and maintenance.
  • Proficient in electrical/electronic theory and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience of LabVIEW and Test Stand software tools.
  • Fault finding.
  • Diagnostic skills.
  • Instrument replacement.
  • Local repair and wiring replacement.
  • Understanding of Test Requirements.

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with troubleshooting computer hardware and software rebuild procedures.
  • Good oral/written communication skills.
  • Flexible, team-player with ability to manage high volume and multi-task activities within assigned time constraints.
  • Comfortable with change and willing to adapt.
  • Able to travel, often at short notice.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and software programs.
  • Must be highly motivated, self-reliant and well organized with excellent time management and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work without supervision and be capable of making informed decisions, sometimes with limited information available.
  • Appreciation of the aviation industry.
  • Familiarity with test instrumentation i.e oscilloscope, signal wave generators, RF etc.

Service Technician

Andy File Associates Limited are working on behalf of their client as a Recruitment Agency with regards this permanent vacancy.

Role

The candidate will work within the Technical Services Department to undertake service and support, test and validation of electric and hybrid vehicle drive systems in commercial vehicles, buses and armoured equipment up to 26t.

Working in collaboration with product development engineers and application engineers to deliver professional service support to existing and new customers, internally and externally. Part of the role will also require initial training on drive systems to enable fault diagnosis, low level repair and equipment testing at the company main site.

Essential skills

Vehicle fitting

• Knowledge of engines and associated cooling, exhaust systems for light/heavy vehicles.
• Knowledge of and ability to inspect and re-fit transmission components
• Knowledge of vehicle air-brake/steering/hydraulic systems

Mechanical

• A good level of bench fitting skills
• Knowledge and experience working with generators

Electrical

• Good understanding of vehicle wiring systems and practices
• Fault finding on LV electrical systems
• Understanding of vehicle CAN networks and CAN diagnostics

Other skills

• Category C or D license
• Problem solving and analytical skills
• Attention to detail
• Be able to generate accurate reports using MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to work safely and ensure the safety of others and apply Safe Systems of Work
• The ability to work effectively with other Engineers, from a range of disciplines, to produce a high quality, and reliable engineering solution
• Customer facing skills

Competency in conducting:
Modifications to vehicle body work
Modifications to vehicle interior trim
Manufacture of wiring looms and harnesses from engineering drawings
Installation of HV looms into vehicles (HV training will be provided)
