Andy File Associates Limited are working as a Recruitment Business on behalf of our client with regards this full time permanent position.


Our client are a well-established company involved in the distribution of hydraulic components and solutions across a wide sector of industries within the UK, with depots at Sheffield, Southampton, Aberdeen and Belfast. The company has remained fully operational throughout the difficulties of 2020 and they are now looking to recruit an Import / Export administrator to ensure a smooth transition of business through the challenges that Brexit will bring.

With a significant proportion of our client’s base components being sourced from within the EU, they realise that this will bring with it a significant increase in workload in order to ensure the smooth transition of goods across the borders. Although far less, there are also further quantities of materials that are also sourced from outside of the European Union. In addition, whilst the sale of products is predominantly within the UK there are also sales across the Irish border, into Europe and further afield. To meet the extra challenges that Brexit will bring our client has the following opportunity:

Import / Export Administrator
The position will provide support to their busy Operations Department, by processing daily import / export shipments and ensuring documentation & customs compliance in a timely and accurate manner. You may also be requested to assist Management occasionally & cover for colleagues in their absence.
The position will be based at the company’s main site in Sheffield, with support being provided to the other three company locations within the UK.
It is a full-time position with hours of work being Monday to Friday 8.30 – 5.00 pm (one-hour lunch break), salary to be negotiated dependent upon skills and experience.

Desired Experience

• You must have recent experience working in an Import / Export Role
• Working with Freight Forwarders, haulage companies and overseas customers and suppliers
• Experience of moving products (Import & Export) outside of the European Union Zone would be a distinct      advantage

Skills Required

A good knowledge of Customs Legislation, especially with regards to product classifications (commodity codes), valuations and origin of materials is seen as essential.
Familiarity and confidence in dealing with Customs Declarations.
A thorough understanding of Incoterms and their application in the movement of goods.
Possess a good working knowledge of Intrastat and the associated regulations.
Have strong IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office and Excel with experience of SAP being a distinct advantage.
Excellent communication skills, along with a very positive and willing to help attitude.
Pro-active, with strong organisational skills and ability to work on own initiative.
Educated to a good standard.
